Texture, AMEN!

Luckily, we were all out of the house today and the workers are gone for the evening. I've made arrangements to work at our neighbors house tomorrow on my computer since it's my day to work from home. Mark/Sue and Anna sure have been quite helpful during this ordeal.

The texture was sprayed today, first color of paint gets applied tomorrow and second color on Thursday. Things are really going to start moving forward once this wall-prep is done. Thursday the stone will go up on the fireplace, and Gabriel comes back to bend the stair wood over the weekend, hardwood floors get delivered on Wednesday and will be installed and sanded Monday and Tuesday! YES! Ready for cabinets at that point. Somewhere in here the electrical outlets and lights can also all get trimmed out. These pictures should start getting WAY more exciting. Hardware for the doors came in the mail today and the stained doors should arrive from Ayers Fine Finishing by week end. We just may have a front door finally. Stay tuned!

Dissaster!

This is a picture of Henry, the sheetrocker, spraying primor on the walls. Between the heat, around 95 that day, and no breeze, plus all the plastic up everywhere........ this is a recipe for DISSASTER! The house must have been 100 degrees. The remodel patience has finally hit it's limit and it was time to take a break. So, out to the trailer we went! Spent our first night through this whole process in the trailer. We're lucky we have it! Turned the A/C on, made up the beds and it was well worth it.

Stair Magician!

And so it begins...... these wonderful round stairs are going to get a facelift! Gabriel, the wood magician, stopped by to start templating the stairs. Over this coming weekend, he'll start bending the pearwood to fit the form. We'll post pictures as the project continues. We're just as curious as some of you are as to how in the world this guy does it!

Still Sanding

Not much is new around here. The sheetrock is still moving forward.....one step at a time. They'll be done by end of Tuesday. In the meantime, we're still finessing the "Lincoln log" from Popp Lumber mill :) Supposedly it's going to be our mantel. We're trying to tap into our creative sides. The process started with a tumble and Mike tripping over a saw and the log landing on my knee. OUCH! Since then, we've popped circuit brakers, inhaled sawdust and used the chain saw all for the love of saving money and using this special log.

Sheetrock YAHOO

The sheetrock went up on Thursday and Friday. What a dissaster zone that was! We should have taken photos to document the mess so you all could really appreciate how it looks now. The crew came in with the dump trailer and hauled off all of the scraps, swept the floors, vacumned downstairs, etc. We still can't believe how clean they were able to get it. Mud and taping starts Monday. Jim has also been here switching out the electrical outlets on the other 2 floors from ivory to white. What a difference the "little stuff" makes in updating a space.

It's so quiet

The insulation went in today. It's amazing how fast 1 guy can put this up. He arrived at 7:45 a.m. and Mike says he was does by noon. Sheesh! It's real quiet now when in the room. So nice! Our hood also arrived today. The duct work will get installed for that on Tuesday. Sheetrock is delivered on Tuesday and will start going up Wednesday. Finally, the room will begin looking like a real room!

Beautiful Gate

There hasn't been much too post lately..... electrical work isn't too fun to look at :( But, check out our cool new gate courtesy of crafty Jim! We saw this picture on the internet and really liked how it was a gate with character. Turned out excellent!! Thanks, Jimmy Jo-Jo!

cement floor and stained posts

It was a busy last few days. Dad, Mike and Jim poured the new concrete floor in the entry way on Saturday, plus we celebrated dad's birthday at the cabin. Alan and Debbie and their families were also there! Beautiful sunny days and we even hiked to Goat falls. It was a nice break from this filthy, dusty, construction zone house! It was hard to come home to the filth.

On Tuesday, I took the day off of work so I could meet the "stain-guy" to do these posts and beams. It' s hard to tell in this photo, but they look beautiful! Bonnie and I also spent the day driving all over country picking out granite, tile, door pulls and hardware for the front door. I went a little over my price range for granite, but I had to get the Ivory Gold!!! It has great movement through it, just the right balance of greys, yellows, browns and creams and looks terrific with my floor and cabinet samples. Bonnie didn't help of course with her "do it! get it!" attitude :)
