First new Appliance
Mike couldn't take it anymore. The fridge was a must! Troy stopped by tonight to help muscle it up the back porch. Luckily, no issues! We turned it on but haven't hooked anything else up. It needs it's handles, water connector, etc. but we should be able to move food in tomorrow. We must admit, we will NOT miss the small trailer fridge and this new Electrolux seems HUGE!
Slippery socks + new floor = surfin'!
The floors are done! After a rough night of sleep in the trailer, we entered the house today to have nice new stained floors. It's amazing how the wood really came alive with color. LOVE IT! Ian and Raea had a blast running and sliding all over in their socks. Ian's poo-poo attitudes about the wood floor were gone in a flash. He continues to tell us that these floors won't be good to wrestle on and he wants the old perfectly good wrestling house back. We'll see how long it takes for him to get tired of surfin' and want his carpet back :) I don't think this wrestling issue is going away anytime soon.

Raea's Prom Stairs...haha
Tile entry and slate hearth was installed this last weekend. We've also been busy staining the rails and skirts for the stairs. Gabriel finished the rounded pearwood treads and risers today. They'll be stained next week! Joey also stopped by with the fabricated steal for the granite on the island. It's amazing how everyone is so willing to help out! We had Anna down here staining last night as well. The granite install was moved up to Thursday. YES! Cabinets in the kitchen should also be done by then. Danny says he finished the wine cabinet and will be over soon to install the steal for the granite, plus missing cabinet doors. We ordered cabinet pull samples off the internet over the weekend to help determine which style looks and functions the best. Jim and Mike, maybe dad also, will tackle the siding on the 28th and 29th. The front door was also set lower since we last posted. It's grand central station tonight but it's so great to see the progress and how close we are to having the space back!

Cabinets are in!
Here are pics of the cabinets installed. If you click on these photos, they will enlarge. The toe kick hasn't been installed yet and a few doors are missing, but you can really start to see what this is going to look like when it's done. It really changes the room and makes it seem more homey! You'll also notice that the gas line for the range is in the wrong spot. It'll be fixed in the morning! Junior the cat and the kids also posed for a blog pic. More pics to come over the weekend as the tile and rounded stairs are completed.

I can smell the banana bread a cookin'
In only weeks, we'll be whippin' up some banana bread in our new kitchen! This cabinet I have shown here up close has the pop-up lift for our Kitchen Aid. Mike loves to joke about how my $40 garage sale find of the Kitchen-Aid has turned into a kitchen investment! I had to have this popup cabinet. If you've ever lifted one of these mixers, you completely understand why. Dan installed part of the wall bank today, with the remaining island cabinets and pantry going in tomorrow. The dark wood looks very nice with the dark tones of stone in the fireplace. Now, pray the granite color fits right in! Richardson and Latham will be here on Thursday to template the stone.
Bring on the rain, we got Tyvek!
Mike and our neighbor Chris whipped-up some Tyvek on Sunday in preparation for the rain. Just made it, whew! It's hard to believe this is the first REAL rain we've seen since the project started early May. We've really been blessed weather wise this year. The stair project continues and the front door is part-way in. I'll post cabinet pics next.

Hood building and lights!
Paula and her family have been here visiting for a few days. It made for a great break from all of the remodel to-dos. We went to the Rainier's game, the guys golfed, plus Paula and I took a walk with the kids to pick blackberries. While they were here, the floor was finished being installed, the lights started going up and the fireplace stone was completed. The mantel still needs to be stained but we've decided to wait until the very end to pick the color. The floor staining will also happen in a couple of weeks once the cabinets are in. As you can see, our entry way light also went up! The front door is in, but not quite done so I'll wait until tomorrow to get that photo up here. Cabinets were supposed to come today but it's been delayed until Monday. Mike and Lambros worked hard to start installing the island hood frame. There were a few hiccups along the way but it should also be done by week's end.
